Position Overview

The Project Manager will oversee full life-cycle execution of a large-scale photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage (BESS) project from early planning through commissioning and turnover. The PM will directly represent Kedma CentroAmerica within the project fence, coordinating all construction activities, engineering interfaces, contractor supervision, reporting, and quality/safety oversight.

This is a partially on-site leadership role requiring strong Spanish/English communication skills, technical experience in utility-scale PV/BESS construction, and the ability to coordinate multiple contractors and stakeholders. Housing and transportation will be provided for the full duration of the project.

Key Responsibilities****1. Project Planning & Coordination

• Lead the 24-month project cycle from pre-construction to final turnover.
• Maintain and update the master schedule in MS Project; track progress vs. milestones.
• Coordinate daily with EPC contractors, civil/electrical teams, logistics personnel, and the internal Project Engineer.
• Align construction activities with engineering design packages, RFI resolutions, and design updates.
• Conduct weekly coordination meetings with all on-site teams and Kedma management.

2. Construction Management

• Oversee mechanical, civil, electrical, and BESS installation activities across all phases.
• Enforce adherence to plans, specifications, quality standards, and technical requirements.
• Manage site workflows, sequencing, laydown areas, internal traffic routes, and weekly productivity expectations.
• Support and verify contractor documentation: method statements, work packages, and installation procedures.
• Proactively identify issues affecting cost or schedule; implement corrective measures.

3. Contractor Oversight & Interface Management

• Manage and supervise all contractors performing work on site.
• Ensure clear delineation of responsibilities between civil, mechanical, electrical, logistics, and commissioning teams.
• Coordinate interfaces between contractors and the external entity responsible for the substation, transmission line, and POI.
• Oversee contractor adherence to the construction schedule and enforce accountability.

4. Material, Inventory & Site Logistics Oversight

• Oversee the contractor responsible for site logistics management, inventory tracking, and material distribution.
• Verify proper receiving, inspection, storage, protection, and allocation of long-lead components, PV modules, racking, cable reels, transformers, and BESS components.
• Coordinate closely with Kedma’s central procurement and logistics teams to ensure alignment on delivery schedules and site readiness.

5. Security, Site Access & Community Relations

• Coordinate site security procedures, guard rotations, and access control.
• Coordinate with local authorities when needed for road access, or community impacts.

6. Utility & Inspector Coordination

• Manage all interactions with the local utility, regulatory inspectors, environmental authorities, and external engineers.
• Coordinate inspections, testing, energization milestones, and documentation reviews.
• Ensure compliance with Guatemalan grid code requirements and local permitting.

7. Environmental, Stormwater & HSE Oversight

• Ensure contractor compliance with all environmental obligations, including stormwater controls, erosion management, EIA requirements, and permit conditions.
• Oversee site-wide HSE performance in coordination with the dedicated HSE Officer.
• Review and approve HSE documentation, including HSE plans, toolbox talks, incident reports, and mitigation actions.

8. Quality Assurance & Documentation

• Implement QA/QC procedures for all construction disciplines.
• Review submittals, shop drawings, test reports, and as-built documentation.
• Manage RFIs, NCRs, punch lists, and quality tracking systems.
• Ensure final documentation packages meet Kedma and client requirements.

9. Change Order, Risk, and Budget Tracking

• Identify and document risks or changes affecting cost or schedule, and manage related change orders with engineering and Kedma management.
• Monitor project performance, including timelines, productivity, weather impacts, and supply-chain issues.
• Support financial oversight, providing budget updates, forecasting, and milestone verification.

10. Commissioning & Closeout

• Coordinate commissioning teams for PV strings, inverters, MV equipment, and BESS systems.
• Align commissioning efforts with the external HV contractor to synchronize energization.
• Ensure all testing, documentation, manuals, training, and handover materials are complete.
• Lead final acceptance procedures and transition to O&M teams.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Professional proficiency in Spanish and English.
• Strong proficiency with AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Office.
• Experience managing utility-scale solar projects; BESS experience strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of civil works, MV systems, PV installation standards, and construction sequencing.
• Ability to coordinate multiple contractors simultaneously.
• Experience with QA/QC, safety compliance, and environmental/permitting obligations.
• Ability to live full-time near the job site (housing & transportation provided).

Preferred Qualifications

• Engineering degree (Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, or related).
• Experience in Central American infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with Guatemalan regulations, utilities, and permitting agencies.
• Experience with PV plant design and multi-phase deployments.
