One of our clients, a cutting-edge startup in the infrastructure intelligence space, is looking to hire a Head of Algorithms to join its technology leadership team. This company develops advanced solutions that bring clarity to complex underground environments, using AI and machine learning to generate real-time, actionable insights for sectors like construction, utilities, and urban planning.

Role Overview:

As Head of Algorithms, you will oversee a growing team of algorithm engineers, embedded within product squads, and take responsibility for both long-term research directions and near-term product delivery.

You’ll report directly to the VP of R&D and play a key role in shaping the company’s AI roadmap, talent strategy, and technical differentiation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, mentor, and scale a team of algorithm and ML engineers working on core product challenges.
• Develop and own the company’s algorithmic vision, aligning with product and business goals.
• Evaluate and implement advanced AI/ML techniques to solve domain-specific challenges.
• Lead efforts that transform complex data into scalable, high-performance systems.
• Architect and oversee the deployment of production-ready ML systems that are reliable, low-latency, and maintainable.
• Balance research and delivery by applying a pragmatic approach to technology decisions.
• Solve the most technically challenging problems hands-on when necessary.
• Drive the development of proprietary algorithmic assets that build defensibility in the market.
• Monitor technology trends, contribute to the company’s IP strategy, and proactively address competitive threats.

Requirements:

• 10+ years of experience in AI/ML, data science, or algorithm development, with 5+ years in leadership roles.
• Proven experience in designing and deploying deep learning models, especially in the domains of computer vision (e.g. object detection, semantic segmentation, image classification). Familiarity with architectures such as CNNs, UNet, YOLO, Faster R-CNN is a strong advantage.
• Hands-on experience with geospatial algorithms and GIS-based data processing, including map matching, spatial interpolation, and graph-based modeling of infrastructure networks. strong advantage.
• MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Proven experience in leading AI teams through full product lifecycles in dynamic environments.
• Strong track record in delivering production-grade systems that create measurable business value.
