BIRD Foundation is a non-profit foundation dedicated to accelerating U.S.–Israel innovation by supporting and funding collaborative industrial R&D that leads to real, market-driven products.

We are looking for a Financial Analyst to join our finance team and take ownership of the financial oversight of funded R&D projects.

The Role

This role sits at the intersection of finance, compliance, and decision-making. It involves hands-on financial analysis, ongoing monitoring of company reports, and close collaboration with the CFO on payment and compliance decisions across multiple programs.

If you enjoy working with data, understanding how projects perform versus plan, and operating in a structured, process-driven environment, this role offers real responsibility and visibility.

What you'll be doing

- Own the financial review process for companies participating in BIRD programs

- Analyze semi-annual financial and fiscal reports for accuracy and compliance

- Monitor budget execution versus approved project budgets and agreements

- Identify discrepancies, risks, and compliance issues

- Prepare professional recommendations regarding payments, delays, or adjustments

- Review requests for budget changes, extensions, and amendments

- Track and review re-payments

- Conduct recurring financial audits and in-depth reviews

- Work directly with company finance teams to obtain clarifications and supporting documents

- Manage multiple companies and programs in parallel while meeting deadlines

What we're looking for

- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field

- 2-4 years of experience in financial control, budgeting, audit, or financial analysis

- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, structured analysis)

- Strong understanding of financial statements and budget monitoring

- High attention to detail and ability to challenge data

- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English

- Experience in grant-based or regulated environments - an advantage

- Experience with advanced AI tools for financial analysis - an advantage
