**In this role, you will oversee and strengthen international trade and customs compliance for multiple legal entities across the region. You will guide the organization through a complex and evolving geopolitical landscape, ensuring adherence to import/export regulations and optimizing trade processes. Acting as the central subject-matter expert, you will provide both strategic advice and hands-on operational support. You will collaborate closely with global teams, build robust compliance programs, and monitor regulatory changes affecting cross-border operations. This position offers the opportunity to shape core trade governance, drive continuous improvement, and influence high-impact decisions across a global environment.

Accountabilities

• Serve as the primary subject-matter expert for import and export regulations, advising European legal entities on HS classification, country-of-origin determination, customs valuation, and the use of free trade agreements.
• Act as a strategic advisor on the impact of trade restrictions, tariffs, and emerging regulatory frameworks.
• Supervise and act as Business Product Owner for SAP systems, particularly the GTS module, ensuring effective adoption and functionality.
• Monitor regulatory changes, compliance trends, and geopolitical developments to keep the organization informed and aligned with evolving requirements.
• Design, implement, and oversee internal compliance programs, SOPs, and periodic audits to ensure robust trade governance.
• Develop and conduct internal training to promote compliance awareness and accountability.
• Provide guidance on export controls and sanctions, including compliance with regulations from jurisdictions such as the UK and US.
• Operate in a fully remote environment, preferably based near company sites in Sweden, Germany, or France.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in international business, supply chain, law, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
• At least 8 years of experience in global trade compliance with strong expertise in customs regulations, ideally within the medical device, biotech, or pharmaceutical industries.
• Deep knowledge of import/export regulations, including HS classification, country-of-origin rules, and customs valuation.
• Hands-on experience with SAP GTS or similar global trade management systems.
• Understanding of global customs regimes such as the EU Union Customs Code, US CBP, and China GAC.
• Experience in export control, including dual-use goods and export-controlled technologies.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and a strategic mindset.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and project leadership skills in a global environment.
• Self-driven, motivated, and capable of managing multiple complex projects simultaneously.
