Senior Payroll Specialist – Yehud, Israel

We are partnering with a global organisation to hire a Senior Payroll Specialist based in Israel. This is an opportunity for an experienced payroll professional to take ownership of end-to-end payroll processes, support continuous improvement, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams.

As a Senior Payroll Specialist, you will manage full Start-to-End payroll processing for your assigned portfolio, using Hargal payroll systems. You will be responsible for all payroll administration including benefits, compliance documentation, tax activities, annual and quarterly submissions, and ad hoc payroll requirements. The role includes supporting internal and external audits, handling payroll accounting queries, managing reconciliations, and ensuring accurate and timely payments.

You will act as a key point of contact for payroll-related queries, providing support to internal teams, external stakeholders, and auditors. You will also contribute to training other team members, maintain your own professional development, and proactively identify improvements across payroll operations.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to anticipate issues before they arise. You will work independently, investigate root causes, identify risks, and support the development of new processes and procedures. The role also involves contributing to small projects and supporting process optimisation.

Additional responsibilities include working on employment lifecycle processes such as end-of-employment documentation (including 161 forms, Section 14 processes, and severance law), as well as onboarding and contract implementation for monthly and hourly employees.

This role requires strong analytical skills. You will review payroll and employee data, perform reconciliations, support auditors and local authorities, and ensure all external submissions are completed accurately and on time. You will analyse third-party system data, resolve discrepancies, and work closely with internal partners to maintain payroll compliance and data accuracy. Confidentiality, GDPR adherence, and rigorous compliance with company procedures are essential.

You will use your experience to make sound decisions within your area of responsibility and communicate proactively with payroll leadership regarding risks, legislative changes, and operational challenges. You will also help guide the work of other team members where appropriate.

Collaboration is key to success in this position. You will build strong working relationships with HR, Finance, Benefits, and other cross-functional teams to understand their processes and anticipate impacts on payroll operations. You will act as a main contact for managing payroll-related risks and supporting colleagues across the business.

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of payroll experience

• Strong knowledge of finance, HR, benefits, compliance, and compensation processes

• Experience with Hargal or similar Israeli payroll systems

• Ability to manage complex payroll operations independently

• Strong problem-solving ability and willingness to improve processes

• High attention to detail, proactive mindset, organised and deadline-driven

• Strong communication and collaboration skills

• Understanding of payroll accounting, reconciliations, and local legislation
