Head of Data

We’re looking for n8n’s first Head of Data, a strategic builder who’s excited to design our data strategy, stack, and culture from the ground up.

You’ll turn data into one of n8n’s biggest growth levers, helping every team make faster, smarter, and more confident decisions as we scale.

🎯 Your main goal will be to build and lead n8n’s first dedicated data function, defining the strategy, stack, and culture that turn data into a core driver of growth and decision-making across the company.

To do so, you’ll establish the foundations of our data organization, build scalable infrastructure, and empower every team to make faster, smarter, and more informed decisions.

STRATEGY & VISION

• Define and articulate the company-wide data strategy, ensuring alignment with business priorities and anticipating future needs, especially in AI.
• Build a long-term roadmap for the data organization, from initial foundations to advanced analytics, data science, and AI use cases.
• Explore and adopt new technologies and methodologies that keep n8n at the forefront of data innovation.

DATA INFRASTRUCTURE & ANALYTICS

• Build and scale a reliable, secure, and modern data infrastructure that supports both BI and self-service analytics.
• Design and implement core data models, metrics, and dashboards to power decision-making across Product, Revenue, and Operations.
• Capture and transform raw data into clear, actionable insights that guide strategic choices and uncover growth opportunities.
• Ensure strong governance, data quality, and compliance with privacy and security standards.

LEADERSHIP & COLLABORATION

• Lead, mentor, and grow a small team of Analysts/Analytics Engineers, with future expansion into Data Engineering and Data Science.
• Foster a culture of curiosity, learning, and experimentation within the data function and across the company.
• Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Leadership to embed data into every decision.

REQUIREMENTS

Must-haves

• 💼 Data leadership experience: 8+ years in data, including building and leading data teams (both analysts and engineers) from the ground up.
• 📊 Technical excellence: Proven experience designing and scaling modern data architectures (BigQuery, Snowflake, dbt, etc.), with strong modeling and performance optimization skills.
• 🧠 Analytical mastery: Deep expertise working with large-scale user-level data (ideally in B2C/ B2B SaaS and PLG context) and strong understanding of marketing analytics and growth loops.
• 🗣 Communication & influence: You can translate complex analytical concepts into clear business insights and influence cross-functional stakeholders.
• 🚀 Strategic operator mindset: A player-coach who thrives on both building vision and executing hands-on in fast-paced environments.
• 💡 Continuous learner: Up to date on the latest technological trends and experienced (or eager) in applying AI within data teams.
• 🧰 Tools: Proficient in n8n’s data stack, including BigQuery, dbt, and BI tools such as Looker or Metabase.

Nice-to-haves

• 🤖 AI/ML experience: Exposure to building or leveraging AI/ML models in a data context.
• 🛡 Data governance expertise: Familiarity with privacy, compliance, and regulatory frameworks.
